Portland Children's Investment Fund | Data Collection and Evaluation

Early Childhood and Child Abuse Prevention/Intervention Grantees:Children's Investment Fundhas retained the Child Welfare Partnership at Portland State University to provide technical assistance with Early Childhood and Child Abuse Prevention/Intervention grantees around their program outcomes tracking and annual outcome report process. PSU staff is available for email, phone and on-site consultation regarding grantee program outcomes, data collection tools and methods, data reporting procedures and data analysis. For more information, contact Meg McElroy.After-School and Mentoring Programs Portland Public Schools (PPS), Centennial School District, David Douglas School District, and Reynolds School District have agreed to report a uniform set of data to allChildren's Investment Fundgrantees providing after-school and mentoring programs to PPS students. All After-School and Mentoring grantees providing these services will be required to submit lists of all of those districts' students who participated in Children's Investment Fund funded services and who also met the participation floor for outcome reporting to PPS. PPS will report on the following data points:

  • Percentage of children who improve attendance from previous school year to current school year (04/05 to 05/06)
  • Percentage of students who attend school 80%, 90%, 95% and 97% of days offered
  • Percentage of children who decrease their behavior referrals from previous school year to current school year (04/05 to 05/06)
  • Of kids who receive serious behavior referrals (suspension or expulsion), how many move from 2 to 1, or from 1 to 0. (based on stats collected for state)
  • Percentage of kids who improve math and reading grades from previous school year to current school year
  • Percentage of kids who meet state standards in previous school year and current school year
  • Percentage of children who move from very low to low, from low to nearly meets, from nearly meets to meets, and from meets to exceeds benchmarks in math and reading
  • How many children who participated in grantees' programs were eligible for free and reduced lunch so we can understand the poverty level of the children Children's Investment Fund programs are serving.

Centennial, David Douglas and Reynolds School Districts will report on the following data points:

  • Percentage of kids who meet state standards in previous school year and current school year

Submission of Participant Lists

  • Submit lists of participants to Children's Investment Fund staff no later than June 15, 2006.
  • Participant list should only include PPS, David Douglas, Centennial and Reynolds students who met the participation floor.
  • Download Excel form for entering participant information from this web site.
  • Participant information must include:
    • Last name and first name of student, spelled correctly
    • Date of birth
    • School attended
    • Grade level

If you need data broken down within subgroups of participants, please list and label each subgroup so the districts can break out the data by subgroup. Each district will send data directly to grantees. You will use the data for the annual outcome report.
